Victory in the Lord

Yesterday, the guest pastor Jason Tan is sharing on the topic - Victory in the Lord.

This month is 7th month. Do we get scared easily? Do we get frightened?

Why do we get frightened when we came across bad incident  ? All your false fears are played by the devil. It can put false thoughts in person, and can spread fear, and ultimately can get your worship.

3 key points

1) Name above names
Phil 2:9-10 (NIV)

9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

We have many names of lesser gods. But there can be only one that is higher and greater than all others. And, we all know what it is, and who He is.

2) By the blood of the Lamb
Rev 12:11a (NIV)
11They overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb

As long as we have faith in Him, and believe in Him, we are always protected by the blood of the Lamb. And, precious blood would keep the devil at bay, and keep you safe and secure from all those scares.

3) The one who is in you greater than the one in the world

1 John 4:4 (NIV)
4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

The one who is in you refers to Him, and the one in the world refers to the devil.

So, bearing thsee points in mind, we will have victory in the Lord.

Warning on your spiritual life

Yesterday, we attended Sat service. We learnt abt the verse - Heb 2:1 (NIV).

1We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

It warns us to "pay more careful attention", so that we "do not drift away".

Imagine that we are resting like frog in boiling water.

Without fire, we are resting like frog in luxury. What will happen when very small fire is started under stove? water will slowly warm up.. and eventually become so unbearable that we can't survive. It reflects on your spiritual life. How it ll die.

Thus it s important to pay more careful attention on God's word and your life.

And it brings us to pay attention to Bessie who had shared coincidentally in our cell group - James 1:22-25 (NIV)
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

And, I myself by miracle, came upon 1Tim 4:16 (NIV)

16Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

and shared it in cell group as well.

All three verses are closely linked. It s calling us to pay more careful attention, so that we ll not drift away.
