Warning on your spiritual life

Yesterday, we attended Sat service. We learnt abt the verse - Heb 2:1 (NIV).

1We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

It warns us to "pay more careful attention", so that we "do not drift away".

Imagine that we are resting like frog in boiling water.

Without fire, we are resting like frog in luxury. What will happen when very small fire is started under stove? water will slowly warm up.. and eventually become so unbearable that we can't survive. It reflects on your spiritual life. How it ll die.

Thus it s important to pay more careful attention on God's word and your life.

And it brings us to pay attention to Bessie who had shared coincidentally in our cell group - James 1:22-25 (NIV)
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

And, I myself by miracle, came upon 1Tim 4:16 (NIV)

16Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

and shared it in cell group as well.

All three verses are closely linked. It s calling us to pay more careful attention, so that we ll not drift away.

  1. Hi Philip,

Thanks for your sharing. Can you copy and paste your above sharing into a Word Document? Then, attached it to your email to me.

I think you could have shared more in the cell meeting but lack of time because Bessie took up much time. Your frog illustration is good....should use that in your sharing to bring across your lesson clearer.

You've the understanding of the word of God and you can be more active and be involved in cell meeting, you can do it! pat
